Phil Jordan
Phil has over 35 years of experience transforming businesses and leveraging Technology, Digital and Data for Global leaders of the telecommunications and retail industries. As a career CIO and Global CIO, Phil has been at the forefront of IT Operating Models, cost and performance reinvention at the same time as digital transformation. He has worked in a number of businesses spanning multiple industries and geographies.
Alongside mentoring, Phil has a portfolio of Chair and Non-Executive Director roles within FTSE 250 organisations and he also advises other businesses on their Technology agenda.
Phil is passionate about creating and supporting high performing teams and believes in the power of leadership to transform both businesses and lives. He brings a pragmatic and experienced approach and has a particular interest in supporting leaders through transformational change.
Simplifying the complex has been central to the way he has led Technology and he is now bringing that same focus and clarity to helping clients with the opportunities and challenges they face.
Phil has worked across a range of industries throughout his career including insurance, telecoms and retail. He began by working in IT in the Manufacturing & Insurance Sectors. His senior leadership journey accelerated when he joined Vodafone in 2000 during a period of rapid growth in mobile communications. Whilst at Vodafone, Phil made the first of a series of overseas moves as part of the Vodafone team that built Safaricom in Kenya.
Returning to the UK after a sustained period of providing thought leadership and transformational change, he became CIO for Vodafone UK before taking on regional responsibility in Europe.
In 2010 Phil took the opportunity to join O2 UK and shortly after became Group CIO in Madrid. A role that enabled Phil and his family to spend 8 years in Spain. During this time, he led the largest business and technology transformation in the Telco Sector. A transformation that modernised and digitised Telefonica for the future.
By 2018 Phil was looking to return to the UK for family reasons and was invited to fill a new role as Group CIO for Sainsbury’s. A role that he retired from in 2023. Sainsbury’s operating model, innovation and transformation track record has been industry leading under Phil’s Leadership.
Phil has a number of Non-Executive Director roles and is the Chair of a FTSE 250 PLC.
Phil is married to Claire and they have three children. In his spare time he enjoys golf, cricket, gardening and walking.
