Alan Dean has had an outstanding career growing FTSE businesses as an investment banker with Rothschild; as CEO; and as chairman and non-executive director of several organisations. For the last 15 years, he has used this background to mentor CEOs and directors from a wide range of industries.
Alan’s deep experience both as a business leader and mentor means that he is able to bring his wisdom powerfully to bear in helping people and businesses to thrive and grow. He cares deeply about his clients and has an intuitive ability to spot the one thing that can make a difference in the moment. He brings a calm, balanced and strategic perspective to his mentoring sessions. He holds an International Practitioners Certificate in Coaching (NLP) and is qualified to deliver leadership assessment and cultural transformation tools.
Alan’s early career was with merchant bankers N M Rothschild, firstly in London and then heading up the North West office becoming the leading corporate financier in the region . Alan was then appointed CEO of listed direct mail order company, N Brown Group where the market capitalisation rose from £18million to £250 million in just two years. As Director of North West Water with responsibility for acquisitions, £200 million in sales and £20 million operating profits was added over five years. He also led on funding international projects and was involved in regulatory strategy. Taking his skills in a new direction and following his passion for classical music, Alan became CEO of the Halle Orchestra, where he oversaw the move to a new concert hall. Alan has held a number of non-executive appointments and two chairmanships.
Alan and his partner Stephen are avid classical music and opera fans. He also plays cello himself. He has two adult boys, both married with children and living in the USA. For quieter relaxation, Alan and Stephen enjoy gardening and walking their dogs, Bertie and Jasper.
